NAEF SUMMER NEWS 2018

News From The Heart of Art in Natomas

Message from NAEF Director, Sierra Hersek

Big Day of Giving was a huge success for NAEF this year. With your help, we raised over $21,000 to support our mission. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our donation page on their social media, and came out to our Eat Your Art Out event!

We are off and running with the NAEF Summer programs. Our second annual NAEF Summer Arts Camp wrapped up last week and the kids had a great time working on art projects, theatre, and ceramics. We saw a lot of growth in both the offerings of our camp and overall registration this year.

Our Youth Theatre For All production of Bye Bye Birdie is currently in rehearsals, with performances planned for July 12-14. Tickets are on sale now and we invite all of you to join us for a trip back in time to the the early 1960s and small-town America. Bye Bye Birdie is a musical comedy featuring a tuneful high-energy score about teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie who has been drafted and the antics that ensue when he chooses All-American girl, Kim MacAfee, for a very public farewell kiss.

All of the young performers in Bye Bye Birdie are able to participate in the show for free! NAEF sought and received sponsorships from the City of Sacramento, the California Arts Council, and the Joyce and Jim Teel Family Foundation to provide this enriching experience to the youth of our community. We consider all of this support to be an endorsement of the value of this program that has impacted over 50 young performers and crew members from across the region.

Please join us for a fun night of theatre and help ensure that this program will continue next Summer!

Other Ways to Support

Especially for California State Employees

Through the Our Promise Campaign, a program offered to state employees to choose and support non-profits through an automatic payroll deduction, you have the option to donate to NAEF. Starting in August you will find us listed as an approved nonprofit for the 2018 campaign. In addition you can come by our booth at the Our Promise Kick-Off event on August 29th from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m on the north steps of the California State Capitol. We hope to meet some of you there and share, one on one, how NAEF impacts our community.
